Kirby Gwen grew up with a goal. Unlike most 10-year-olds, who want to serve as presidents or astronauts, she always knew: She was destined for the airwaves.
“I remember writing it down as a kid, ‘I want to be a radio DJ,’” Kirby says. “Music, celebrities, conversation—that sounds like the coolest job in the world.”
Fast forward a few years, and Kirby has proven the power in chasing your dreams down. How? She’s your newest Walmart and Sam’s Club Radio DJ. And she’s got big plans for a bright future.
“I’m supposed to be here!”
“I truly believe in the power of alignment, and the power of manifestation. And I remember coming down to Bentonville and thinking, ‘I am supposed to be here!’” Kirby says.
“I’ve always stood on the pillar of wanting to uplift, entertain and inform. I want to know what our associates are into, I want us to uplift one another, and I ultimately want to be able to share our light and our spark with one another.”
When meeting Kirby, it’s immediately obvious she has lots of light to share. During her time in radio, she’s brought joy to others in countless ways, from emceeing live events to spending the night in an animal shelter—where, shocked as she was, she became a cat person.
“His little paws reached out to pull my hand back closer, and it was a wrap after that.”
“Never in a million, trillion, bajillion years would I have ever thought I would be a cat lady,” Kirby says laughing. She tells the story of spending a night in an animal shelter as a charity benefit, when she met her new BFF.
